Since 1996 we have provided over $792,000 in scholarships to 93 Posh Scholars. In 2019 there will be 16 scholars in school collectively receiving $64,000 in assistance. The annual scholarship stipend per scholar was increased by 60% to $4,000 from 2017 onward!
Deborah Burzynski, chairwoman of the scholarship committee, announced the four new 2018 scholars, saying “It was a pleasure meeting so many well qualified candidates. Selecting the final four was a difficult task.”
2018 Scholars:
a senior from Glenbard West High School, will attend the University of Illinois to study Aerospace Engineering.
a senior from Glenbard East High School, will attend the University of Iowa to pursue a degree in Nursing.
a senior from Glenbard South High School, plans to pursue a career in Communications from Marquette University.
a senior at Glenbard South High School, will attend Benedictine University to study Biomedical Engineering.
The Ed Posh Scholarship Fund was established in honor of Ed Posh, the first head golf professional at the Village Links in Glen Ellyn. Through the years, Ed has created an environment for golfers of all levels to learn and enjoy the game of golf.
The Scholarship Fund raises funds through donations and the annual ED POSH SHOOTOUT GOLF SCRAMBLE TOURNAMENT & DINNER PARTY. This event was held in July of 2018 at the Village Links Golf Course. 100% of the net proceeds of this fundraising event went to the scholarship fund. The organizers and members of the board are all local volunteers. Over the years the ED POSH SHOOTOUT has become a premier local fundraising event. Golf, an outstanding dinner under the stars, music, dancing, auctions, prizes, along with the exciting SHOOTOUT itself, were among the many attractions of this event.
